The Importance of Car Oil and Coolant Changes

Two items on any service manual check list are car oil and coolant change time frames. This is due to the fact that engine oil and coolant break down over time losing their ability to lubricate and cool your engine. This can lead to costly repairs due to engine damage from excess wear, particle build up and possible overheating. It is recommended that your engine oil and filter be changed every three thousand miles and that coolant be changed every two years or sixty thousand miles. These guidelines may need to be adjusted according to your type of car, driving habits and the weather conditions in which you operate the vehicle. Proper and regularly scheduled maintenance will keep your car running at peak performance.
